Short FAQ Section
1. Do you do commissions?
Yes. Prices vary depending on size and complexity of design.
2. Are your paintings oil or ...?
I paint in acrylics, ink and mixed media. ( Lots of different materials )
3. Where can I see your work in person?
I'm represented by three galleries in the North Georgia region. You can click HERE to find the one nearest to you!
4. Is your name really "Owl" and how did you get it?
I've been called Owl for so long now, I hardly answer to anything else - but my real name is Jeff. "Owl" was shortened from "Night Owl" which was an internet nickname I took in the early 1990's - back when the internet was all shiny and new. :)
5. Where did you learn to paint?
I am mostly self-taught - but I did take art in high school and I was an art major in college for a few years a very long time ago. Most of my "folkspression" work is derived from childhood drawings of fish and other animals.
6. Where was your first art show?
My first art show was when I was 6 years old. It ran on the family fridge and lasted there for almost 6 months. It was a great success, but I didn't do much in the way of sales that year. :)
7. When I google you, there are alot of other pages that come up other than art stuff - what's that about?
Google has recorded, for all of eternity it seems, many of my online exploits over the last 10 years. You may find old blog posts, crazy videos, some odd photos and some things that are somehow linked to me that I had nothing to do with. I ran a pretty successful fishing blog for a few years, have had numerous websites based on different topics and generally just ran amok on the internet for a long time without regard to the future. Somewhere out there in the vast reaches of the internet there may or may not be a video of me dancing in my pajamas and a construction safety vest. Even if I knew where it was, I wouldn't tell you. :)
8. Would you paint me french kissing my dog?
Absolutely not.
9. What is your favorite thing to paint?
Whatever I have inside my head that I want to paint NEXT. Or cats. I like cats pretty well. Probably because I'm highly allergic to them and can't have one myself. Cats are both awesome, and jerks. It's an interesting paradox, isn't it?
10. What are your goals for 2014? ( So glad you asked! )
My goal in 2014 is to sell enough art to help feed my family and to paint a giant 8-12 foot tall chicken on a barn near a heavily traveled road. Do you have an old barn that needs a giant chicken on it? I'm your man. Give me a shout.
